On The Road: Summer Vacation

August 17, 2011

I love taking photographs in the car. Traveling in a car doesn’t exactly create the best conditions for picture taking, but taking photos does keep me calm and help pass the time.  Here are some of the results from our recent trip to Eastern Washington/Idaho.

It is fun to see how much this state changes as you travel across it.  We took Highway two, through the mountains, past Leavenworth, through Wenatchee and over into those never-ending fields of wheat and other expansive crops. We had great traveling weather and, as always, very much enjoyed the beauty we were privileged to have surrounding us.

And then my camera batteries failed me and I had to switch to the iphone…shoot.

Over 7 hours after leaving, we reached our destination.  It was glorious.

I also took a few photos – in the car – on the way to Sandpoint, ID with my cousins (and soon to be cousin-in-law :)).

It was all over too quickly, soon, we were reluctantly packing our stuff into the car.  Before we left we decided to help Cordelia out and dunk her in the river, so that she would be nice and cool on our long trip. Want to see some videos of the event? Go here. Spencer took some awesome videos of a very nervous Cordelia going for a swim.

And here she is in the car, not panting, which is the miracle we hoped to achieve.

We were definitely less enthusiastic on the drive home, but home we went!

(And Cordelia didn’t pant once for the first 5 hours of the trip!!! Amazing)
